This rustic woodland Fern ring is hand formed of 99.9% pure recycled silver, and made with real fern leaves found in the forest that I live in. This made-to-order ring is lovingly hand formed in a very involved process which makes each ring entirely unique and one of a kind. The finished piece has an natural rustic look and feel. Each handcrafted piece is different and unique, with small surface flaws that are purposely made to add to the rustic, aged, heirloom feel of it. All edges of the ring are finely sanded for smooth comfortable wear. This ring is also perfect as a very special one of a kind wedding band for a woman or a man.
~~~~Keep in mind that this is a wide band ring; I often suggest going a half size larger with a wide ring for comfort.~~~~ The band measures approx. 13mm in height.
About Metal Clay/Fine Silver and my process:
These unique items are made from metal clay. Metal clay is made from eco-friendly reclaimed silver. The pure silver particles recovered from the photo developing process and mixed with a binder made of water and plant-based organic materials. In raw form, it's malleable like clay. When fired, it becomes a fine [.999] silver piece of metal.
Every piece is unique. Each piece is made from raw silver with loving care and attention to every detail from start to finish by hand. They are shaped, sanded, and fired in a kiln at 1650 degrees for hours for maximum strength and durability. They are then hand polished, tumbled with steel shot for more shine and work-hardened strength, then oxidized and polished by hand again. The finished product is 99.9% pure fine silver that does not tarnish as easily as sterling. Tiny lines and flaws are characteristic of metal clay and add to its artisan feel. No two pieces are ever alike.
The difference between fine silver and sterling silver is that fine silver is 99.9% pure silver. Sterling is 92.5% silver, with the rest being other metals such as copper and tin. They look and wear the same. You can polish and care for them the same, but fine silver is more tarnish-resistant than sterling. Fine silver is almost pure silver, which makes it a more precious and valuable metal than sterling silver.
